I am sitting here contemplating. After such a busy time working since June, and not having any time to just ‘think’, it is such a lovely experience!
So I have been thinking about Christmas and the different kind of Christmas it will be. For our family, whilst I feel we are lucky that the 3 of us are all together at home, I will miss my parents dreadfully. As an only child, we are all they have. I hope an online Zoom Christmas with them will help but it certainly won’t be the same. I had a conversation with a friend yesterday about the use of ‘Merry Christmas’ and ‘Happy Christmas’ and this made me think. She made the point that Happy Christmas seemed more about inner happiness. For many it may be really hard to have inner happiness due to many reasons - from the tragedy of losing a loved one, to not being able to celebrate Christmas with their families. For some it may be simply that the pubs are shut and they cannot party. We all come to Christmas from different places. And depending on that place some will find it harder than others to find inner happiness, and some will undoubtedly not find it this Christmas. But we must look and search hard - and look to God. And perhaps if inner happiness is too much of a stretch, then maybe some inner peace can be obtained As we celebrate the birth of Jesus we must be remember that we are indeed ‘Children of God’ and God is with us, ready for us to lean on Him and give Him our burdens. I do hope that you find some inner happiness and peace this Christmas God bless you all and I wish you a Happy Christmas Karen
